We’ll be sharing with you our personal recommendations and intentions every Friday in our Library to help give you the inspiration you might need to take some time out, give yourself some love and appreciation. Each member of The Merit Club Team will give you their personal view on self care, some of our favourite things and personal intention for the week ahead. I’m so happy to give you a little insight into some of my self care ‘musts’ and routines! I really hope they help you and you can incorporate some of them into your own routine! They are super simple!

“Giving my hair a treat with a nourishing hair mask”
I love taking time to give my hair the nourishment it needs whilst reading a magazine or listening to a podcast. Here’s one of my favourite masks that I make from scratch that you can make too! I’ve listed the benefits of each ingredient too.
Coconuts truly seem to be the magical ingredient for your hair as it keeps it moist and soft and prevents hair breakage. Since Coconut Oil is loaded with fatty acids, it penetrates the hair more deeply than regular conditioners. Thumbs up!
The benefits of honey are endless! First, honey is great for retaining moisture in your hair - this means that it sucks moisture into the hair and prevents it from escaping. This is especially great if you have dry hair and need an extra boost of moisture and hydration like I do. Honey also brings back any lost sheen and shine to your hair.
- 1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil
- 1 tablespoon of honey
1. Mix all ingredients into a bowl
2. Transfer mix into a pot and heat up until melted
3. Apply to hair from top to bottom and cover with a shower cap
4. Let it sit for 15-20 mins
“SWIMMING AT MY HEALTH CLUB”
My mind doesn’t stop, probably… ever, so I find that exercise is a good way to put my focus on something else. I recently started swimming and it is amazing!
To make my 30 minutes swimming exercise even more of a relaxing experience, I use a waterproof earphone to listen to music. You can also find nature sound playlists on Spotify to literally make you feel like you are in the jungle… I mean if that’s your thing. :)
“ADDING NATURAL COLLAGEN TO MY DIET”
It can be tough to look after my body when i’m so busy. I know we are all ‘busy’, but I’m particularly bad at looking after myself sometimes. So when I can, I work out to de-stress and then I assist my muscles with their repair with amino acids by using this amazing brand’s natural collagen in my drinks or smoothies. It’s completely odourless and tasteless - It’s amazing stuff! It also nourishes the brain and makes my skin feel youthful, so don’t mind if I do…!
“USING LAVENDER OIL AT NIGHT”
When I have a stressful week, I try to take extra care of my wellbeing. At the end of the day it’s all about balance isn’t it? I like to put a drop of 100% lavender oil on my pillow or simply use this spray and it helps me fall asleep in no time. I find that I have a deeper relaxing sleep as well, which recharges me for the day ahead. Try it!
“NETFLIX Binge UNDER A COSY BLANKET”
Nothing beats cosying up under a soft blanket to watch my favourite Netflix show after a long week. Hands up who’s with me on this?
I recently bought the softest EVER blanket from M&S and it truly makes my Friday evening Netflix marathons feel like more of an indulgent experience.
