Best Places to Get Baking in London
With the Great British Bake Off back on our screens, and our tummies rumbling for some sweet treats, we round up the best places to get baking in London and put our own cooking skills to the test.
The Cake Boy Cookery School offers you the chance to learn the art of fine dessert-making and cake baking with master patissier Eric Lanlard. Expect a fun and hands-on teaching style and the chance to take home some delicious goodies, with amazing food throughout the day!
There’s a Chocolat class, Autumn baking, an Afternoon Tea baking experience and, our personal favourite, a French country baking masterclass that takes you on a culinary journey from Brittany and the rich Gateaux Breton to the Loire Valley and their Tarte Tartin, to Provence and an aromatic almond cake with lavender).
A Full Day class will be a £250 investment per person, but if you’re looking for something a little less rigorous why not try their cupcake decorating classes for £95 - these include a delicious champagne brunch to help you on your way!

Bake With Maria offers a very personal cooking experience, as Maria guides you step by step to the perfect baked goods, from cakes to pastries to wholesome bread.
She offers private classes in her home kitchen for 1 on 1 or small groups, as well as arranging larger private classes for groups of friends, hen parties or families. She can tailor the experience to you, whether you’re a macaron fan or chocolate aficionado! If you’re looking to try out a 3 hour class check out her schedule, where experiences are £85.

If you’re determined to up your baking-game this may be the ultimate course for you, as it offers 8 weekly sessions (for £860) that cover everything from pastry and cakes to meringues and muffins.
Alternatively, they do offer a range of day and evening classes for all ages and abilities that are informal and relaxed but guaranteed to teach you all the tips and tricks for the perfect bake. Expect informative demos and lots of hands-on cooking, and then the sweet reward of tucking into your delicious bakes at the end with a glass of wine.

From September, The Primrose Bakery will be offering a selection of Sunday classes in their gorgeous Kensington High Street store, filled with cupcakes galore. Here you can learn how to ice cupcakes with the Primrose signature swirl, practice your piping and feast on the most delicious cupcakes in London, with themed classes, cupcake decorating, and biscuit making. With 6-8 people in a class, and classes starting from £60, you are guaranteed a fun and personal experience, perfect for a birthday, with some friends, or a loved one!

If you’re hungry for a bit of competition, and want a Bake Off experience that’s as near to the real thing as possible, then the Big London Bake experience will be the one for you! For this baking extravaganza, you will need a partner in crime with you as you take to one of their 10 cooking stations, set your timer for 90 minutes, and put your creativity to the test as you fight it out to be crowned Best Baker. Within their fully kitted out marquee, they will be giving you all the instructions, tools and tips you need to create your award-winning bake. Get competitive, and you may just produce a masterpiece. It’s in your baking hands. Tickets start from £39.90 for their normal classes, but if you’re 25-35 and in the market for love, don’t miss out on their Baking & Dating First Bakes experiences too! The pop-up bake off has turned matchmaker.
